Before our trip to Cromer I popped out to Kelling bank whilst my wife was preparing herself completing her morning routine!

8572, 09.45 Sheringham-Holt, Kelling bank
With the light transformed from yesterday morning at the same spot today's photograph really comes alive! With the North Sea in the background, B12 8572 charges up Kelling bank leading the North Norfolk Railway's first service of the day, the 09.45 Sheringham to Holt. I have visited this spot many, many times but never tire of it. Sitting on the grass and taking in the grand vista waiting for a train is just perfect when the weather is like this.

8572, 10.30 Holt-Sheringham, Kelling bank
With the driver and fireman keeping an eye on me the 10.30 Holt to Sheringham Poppy Line service passes as the train descends Kelling bank towards Weybourne. This view makes one realise how deep the cutting is at this spot and also makes me wonder where the Victorian navies took the spoil that was removed as there is no evidence of it adjacent to the line.

76034 (76084), 10.30 Sheringham-Holt, Kelling bank
Class 4MT 76084 (and not 76034 as is being worn by the locomotive) roars up Kelling bank with the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt train. It's a shame that the sun has just lost its edge going behind some high cloud. However, this disappointing lighting can be improved using Photoshop. However, it's not all bad news because in strong sunshine the problem of very high contrast becomes an issue that often manifests itself particularly badly with a gloss black locomotive.
