A couple of short walks out on a cold Sunday to capture some infrastructure workings. With work being undertaken on the up and down fast lines just south of Bletchley, including track replacement, three workings were heading back to their base at Bescot. Unfortunately, I only caught two of them due to some late running.

66703, 09.15 Cheddington-Bescot up engineers sidings (7G50, 15E), site of Roade station
66703 'Doncaster PSB 1981-2002' hauls a rake of loaded MHA Coalfish wagons past the site of Roade's former station. The train, running as 7G50 09.15 Cheddington to Bescot, was conveying used ballast from a worksite on the fast lines between Bletchley and Tring that involved track replacement. Once back at Bescot, the used ballast is sorted, cleaned and then is ready for reuse again.

390134, VT 10.58 Preston-London Euston (1A16, 3L), site of Roade station
Just catching some welcome brightness on what is an otherwise cold and dreary day 390134 'City of Carlisle' sweeps past Roade with the 10.58 Preston to Euston service. This is my first photograph of this Pendolino wearing its recently applied Avanti livery.

66424, 13.09 DIRFT-London Gateway (4L48, 31L), Hyde Road bridge
66424 leads the late-running 13.09 Daventry to London Gateway Tesco Express Freightliner through Roade cutting viewed from the village's Hyde Road bridge. For the last couple of Sundays, this service did not run and that was odd as it's usually one of the most dependable workings. Today, it has returned but is very lightly loaded being less than half full. Perhaps this is a combination of the time of year, the UK leaving the European Union and the COVID effect?

66511, 13.35 Drayton Road Junction-Bescot up engineers siding (6Y62, 93L) & 390123, VT 13.30 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (1B29, 1L), Hyde Road bridge
With the camera's ISO ramped up 66511 passes Roade with a train of used track panels as the 13.35 Drayton Road to Bescot 6Y62. The track panels have been recovered from what I believe to be the up fast line somewhere between Bletchley and Tring in the vicinity of Cheddington. As the train passes under the A508 road bridge 390123 heads south with the 13.30 Birmingham New Street to Euston Avanti service.
