I took my usual jaunt through the village ending up at the village hall in order to receive my flu vaccine injection. Unfortunately, my appointment was a little late in the afternoon so the light was pretty dire deep in the nearby cutting.

350260 & 350248, LN 13.33 Crewe-London Euston (1U32, 1L), Roade cutting
London Northwestern's 350260 and 350248 pass through Roade cutting on the eponymous up fast forming the 13.33 Crewe to Euston service. I had to really ramp up the ISO on the camera to secure this image that took a considerable amount of work in Photoshop to sort out the not inconsiderable amount of digital noise (or digital grain).

66165, 14.41 DIRFT-Dollands Moor (6O67, 1E), Roade cutting
The empty bottled water train passes south through Roade cutting led by DB liveried 66165. I was pleased that this particular Class 66 was leading this train as it was the first time that I have a photograph of it in this livery having many of it wearing its former EWS paint scheme.

390036, VT 14.30 BNS-London Euston (1B26, RT), Roade cutting
I am pleased to see that whilst 390036 'City of Coventry' has been repainted into its Avanti West Coast livery it has not lost its unique identifier attached to both nose cones. The image of the city's Lady Godiva on her horse is shown between two flashes of sky blue the colour associated with the city since it was adopted by Coventry City Football Club under the then successful manager Jimmy Hill in the 1960s. The Pendolino is working the afternoon 1B26 14.30 Birmingham to Euston service through Roade cutting that will have stopped at its namesake's station some thirty minutes prior to this photograph being taken.
