A quick trip out on my bike to Roade cutting to see the passage of a light engine crew training move.

350107, LM 09.02 Crewe-London Euston (1U24), Roade cutting
London Midland's 350107 passes through Roade cutting on the up fast line working the 09.02 Crewe to Euston 1U24 service. These services make very slow progress on leaving Crewe travelling all stations via Alsager to Stoke and then to Stafford and back to the WCML again at Colwich. From Rugby, the services then run fast to London with a stop at Milton Keynes only.

350103, LM 09.54 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (2Y04), Roade cutting
350103 catches some welcome bright winter sunshine on the second day of the year deep in Roade cutting. The London Midland three-car Desiro is working the 09.54 Birmingham to Euston service.

66002, 59204 & 59201, up LE crew training run, Bescot-Acton (0V03), Roade cutting
The passage of a Class 59 on the WCML is a pretty rare event so seeing two is even more unusual. 59204 and 59201 are towed by 66002 through Roade cutting running from Bescot to Acton as 0V03. According to postings on the internet, this was a crew training run but I can only see one other person in the cab of 66002 sitting in the second man's seat.

59201, 59204 & 66002, up LE crew training run, Bescot-Acton (0V03), Roade cutting
I would not normally photograph light engines going away, however, as the locomotives are a pair of Class 59s on the WCML I have made an exception! 59201 and 59204 are towed by 66002 as the 0V03 Bescot to Acton crew training run.
