107. A VERY wet walk-14.11.20

Despite it being an utterly miserably wet November day I was determined to take my 'Lockdown II' walk. So donning my wellies and GORE-TEX® jacket I set off across the fields from home. It just so happened that my walk coincided with the passage of a Northern unit that, unusually, had started out from Heaton (Newcastle) heading for attention at Wolverton Works. I actually got a photograph of that in the dry but then the heavens opened and I took one more very poor image if only to show what a hardened railway photographer I am!

156421, 08.20 Heaton TMD-Wolverton Centre Siding (5H70, 7E), Victoria bridge
It is more normal for Northern to dispatch their units to Wolverton for attention from Allerton. This is the first time that I can recall one starting out from Heaton in Newcastle - a pretty long run for a unit! 156421 is seen approaching journey's end at Victoria bridge in Northamptonshire some five miles north of Wolverton as the 5H70 08.20 from Heaton. It will receive some modification work and head back north again in a couple of weeks. Thanks to Paul Scott for supplying me with the reporting number.

66739, 13.00 Hams Hall-Wembley Reception sidings (4L21, 3L), Hyde Road bridge
66739 'Bluebell Railway' heads slowly through Roade cutting taken from Hyde Road bridge in the village of the same name leading the 13.00 Hams Hall to Wembley Freightliner service. The weather was absolutely foul by this time with torrential rain and appalling light that required the camera to operate at 20000 ISO! I have included this photograph of what is, after all, a pretty ordinary working on my home patch as a credit to my dogged perseverance in awful weather!
