With a visitor arriving at home and trains to see I had to plan my walk with precision. Unfortunately, the railway let me down with some late running so I had to return home only to pop out again but on my bike this time so I was back home in record time. Everybody was happy!

86259, 12.15 Acton Lane reception sidings-Rugby CS (0Z88, 60E), site of Roade station
Having undertaken railtour duties yesterday on 'The Cumbrian Coast Express' 86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' heads past the site of Roade's former station to its weekday home in Rugby carriage sidings. As the 0Z88 12.15 Acton Lane to Rugby, the light engine arrived sixty minutes early whereas all other down services were late, particularly service trains, leaving Euston that were delayed by the same amount. I believe that this issue was caused by overrunning engineering works within Euston station.

With 66126 on-hire to DRS, it makes a change to see it hauling the Sunday 4L48 13.09 Daventry to Purfleet Tesco Express. The train is seen passing through Roade cutting on a rather dull Sunday afternoon.

66004 & 66158, 12.00 Euston-Bescot (6R05, 28L), site of Roade station
Passing the site of Roade's closed station and sidings is the 6R05 Euston to Bescot engineering train. It is carrying used track panels removed from the Euston station area resulting from HS2 works. Unfortunately, on this occasion, there was a problem and the works over ran and caused hours of delays in and out of Euston for the whole of Sunday. Leading this train is 66004 with 66158 bringing up the rear.

66158 brings up the rear of the 12.00 Euston to Bescot engineering train. The flatbed wagons are seen loaded with track panels removed from overnight engineering works in the throat of Euston station that, on this occasion, over ran causing huge delays including this actual train that was over an hour adrift here passing Roade.

66428, 11.05 Tilbury-DIRFT (42L), site of Roade station
66428 'Carlisle Eden Mind' leads a new freight flow that has appeared on the timetable and ran for the last two weeks - the Sunday only 11.05 Tilbury to Daventry Tesco Express. It certainly appears to be a well-patronised working judging by the healthy number of boxes seen in this image as the train passes the site of Roade station.

Groundhog day at the site of Roade station! Last Sunday, see.... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/29562233604/x47739-360113-47727-11-52-ilford I photographed the same train being handled by the same locomotives at the same location but, as the weather was considerably better, from the other side of the line! The only difference was the Class 360 unit being dragged by 47739 and 47727 'Edinburgh Castle/Caisteal Dhun Eideann'. Whilst last week it was 360113 this week it is 360103 being taken to the Siemens depot at Kingsheath for modifications.

Another former GA Class 360 is seen being taken from its base at Ilford to the Northampton Siemens facility for modifications enabling it to run on the MML between St. Pancras and Corby. On this dull Sunday afternoon at Roade 47727 'Edinburgh Castle/Caisteal Dhun Eideann' brings up the rear of the train running as 5Q60 with 47739 leading at the front. Last week this train ran by the book with a lengthy stopover at Milton Keynes. This week it was running late on leaving the London area, as were all other workings, so it simply passed straight through thus recovering all of its lost time to arrive at Northampton early!
