I took my daily walk to coincide with ROG's returning light engine move from Ilford following its dragging of a unit there yesterday. Whilst the sun was trying to come out the weather remained far from perfect for the last day of June!

37800, 12.20 Ilford EMUD-Leicester LIP (0Z , 52E), Ashton Road bridge
As is becoming the norm now, the 12.20 Ilford to Leicester light engine move was running very early eventually arriving at its destination nearly an hour up. 37800 'Cassiopeia' is about to pass under Ashton Road bridge just south of Roade after delivering a former GA Class 315 from Kilmarnock earlier in the day following an overnight stopover in Wembley Yard. As can be seen in the background, the work to stabilise the embankment at this location is moving painfully slowly forward following the tragic death of a contractor at this site back at the beginning of April. By now all works should have been completed and the access land returned to the farmer.

66107, 14.47 DIRFT-Dollands Moor (6M45, 59E), Roade Hill
DB's 66107 brings a welcome splash of red to the uniformed green summer scene at Roade Hill on the WCML between Milton Keynes and Northampton. The Class 66 is leading the daily 6M45 14.47 Daventry to Dollands Moor empty bottled water train past a field of grazing alpacas (Vicugna pacos) who take no notice of the train or of any others that pass on the busy line adjacent to their home!

66708, 12.05 London Gateway-Hams Hall (4M46, 3L), Victoria bridge
With a toot on the horn from the driver, 66708 'Jayne' leads the 12.05 London Gateway to Hams Hall 4M46 Freightliner past Victoria bridge just south of Roade. This particular working was reassuringly well loaded compared to the many freight trains that were running about half loaded.
