Demolition of old Northampton station
With the new Northampton station having been opened for nearly six months, work continues to complete the outside areas. In this view, the taxi rank and the turning circle is being prepared for tarmacking.

66047, 04.18 Felixstowe South-Burton-on-Trent (4M07), Northampton station
66047 leads the 04.18 Felixstowe South to Burton-on-Trent Freightliner working through Northampton. This 4M07 flow is a relatively new one to the small terminal in the Nottinghamshire town. I am not sure how economically viable this new flow is and thus how long it will last; only time will tell.

350109, LM 06.49 Crewe-London Euston (2Y00), Northampton station
As a Freightliner passes on the adjacent centre road, London Midland's 350109 waits to leave Northampton with the 06.49 Crewe to Euston service. Despite the recent work to re-build Northampton's station building, platform one remains a narrow and dingey place to wait for a train to London.

Demolition of old Northampton station
Work continues to rebuild the turning circle and taxi rank outside the rear entrance of the new Northampton station. With the gates still firmly locked preventing entry by the general public this will change dramatically when this part of the re-build finally opens.

350107, LM 09.21 Northampton-Rugby ecs (5U22), Northampton station
350107 waits in Northampton's bay platform four to leave with the 09.21 to Rugby empty coaching stock working. The security operative walking up the length of the platform spends his day, from what I can see, doing this. I wonder what his daily steps are recorded on his 'phone in his pocket?

350125, LM 09.25 Northampton-London Euston (1N70), Northampton station
Our train south to London waits at Northampton station. 350125 stands at platform one with the 09.25 Northampton to Euston. The tricky lighting in this image has pushed the camera to the limits but the sky has remained completely burnt out with me having to expose the deep shadows in which the subject is located.

Class 66 & 90029, stabled, Willesden yard
Passing Wembley yard found an unidentified Class 66 hiding behind 90029. Both locomotives are stabled in the yard awaiting their next turn of duty.

Tickets, Northampton-London Euston
My wife and son and I travelled to London with our family railcard discount loaded. The total advanced single fare was just over ten pounds which is reasonable value for money.
