Various coaching stock, Crewe South
A motley collection of coaching stock sits rather forlornly at Crewe South awaiting restoration or, more than likely, stripping for parts to keep other coaches in use.

Three former Virgin Mk. IIf coaches stand looking rather faded at Crewe South. To the left is a BSO followed by two TSOs. Beyond that is a former Riviera Trains TSO and a Mk. I in chocolate and cream.

57304, stabled, Crewe station
57304 'Pride of Cheshire' sits at Crewe waiting for the 'phone call to come through! It is a thunderbird ready to rescue a stricken train should it fail and block the busy mainline. This is a rare occurrence but one that can cause absolute chaos if not dealt with quickly. 57304 was photographed by me in a very different guise as steam-heat 47055 thirty-seven years previously, see..... https://www.ontheupfast.com/v/photos/21936chg/25511222404/x47055-parcels-bradford-avon-foot

Hartford station is situated on the WCML just north of Crewe with Greenbank station a short distance away on the line between Chester and Manchester. After arrival at Hartford, we had a relatively short time to to get our train from Hertford. Normally we would have walked the mile or so to Greenbank but we decided to get a taxi.
