As summer morphs into autumn, there is often a run of lovely days as a blocking high pressure takes over. When this happens, it is often pleasantly warm with a nice quality of light combined with the subtle changes taking place in the vegetation as the leaves begin to change colour in the 'season of mellow fruitfulness'. Taking full advantage of one such day, I popped out on a Sunday lunchtime on my bike to Roade cutting to catch the returning class 86 following yesterday's railtour duties. This coincided with the regular 4L98 Freightliner from Daventry.
