43046, EM 10.30 Nottingham-London St. Pancras (1B36, RT), Wellingborough south
Taken from the station car park, 43046 brings up the rear of the 10.30 Nottingham to London St. Pancras as it leaves Wellingborough. Notice the electrification masts that have finally arrived within the vicinity of the station and the huge new signal gantry for the slow lines. 43046 was delivered new to the Western Region in the summer of 1977 initially being part of set 253023.

Looking south, Wellingborough station
The up slow line at Wellingborough has yet to be re-laid but the infrastructure is already in, such as the huge and somewhat over-engineered signal gantry. Notice that the electrification masts have arrived to the south of the station on the fast lines. The redundant bay platform in the foreground used to handle the Nene Valley trains that arrived and departed from Northampton and also the Higham Fererrs shuttle services. The white fence also featured a number of times in the 2005 film Kinky Boots with a fake sign stating that it was Northampton.

222004, EM 10.25 Sheffield-London St. Pancras (1C38, 1E), Wellingborough station
Our train to London arrives at Wellingborough station. My wife and I travelled to St. Pancras on the 1C38 10.25 from Sheffield formed of 222004. The journey was artificially slow due to booked engineering works in the north London area meaning that we were limited to a crawling pace for some miles between Cricklewood and St. Pancras. Clever adjustment to the NRT still meant that we arrived one minute early!
