I am always amazed at how busy Sunday afternoons are, particularly in the London area. Both 378231 and 378222 were pretty full to capacity as they stopped at Kensington Olympia station. The former was working the 15.46 Clapham Junction to Stratford and the latter the 15.05 Stratford to Clapham Junction.

21398, Kensington Olympia-High Street Kensington District working, Kensington Olympia station
With the Kensington Olympia Exhibition Centre dominating the background, TFL 21398 waits at the adjacent underground station platform. This unit is one of the new S7 trains that are being introduced at the time of writing. Whilst they do not have the character of the old stock, they represent a huge step forward for London travellers, the main advantage is that thy are air-conditioned.

Our first train home arrives at Kensington Olympia station. We took 377707, working the 16.05 Clapham Junction to Watford Junction to its destination. Normally these Southern services go as far as Milton Keynes that is convenient for us, but on Sundays they terminate at Watford Junction meaning that we have to complete our journey on a London Midland service.

An unusual shot of our train back from Watford Junction to Milton Keynes but one that maintains my tradition of photographing every train that I travel on! An unidentified class 350 waits to leave with the 2Y41 16.34 Euston to Birmingham New Street. This was another packed to capacity Sunday afternoon service.
