Amazingly, having managed to get Andy's 23-year-old Nissan Serena yet another MOT at work, I drove it to Wolverton and met him at the station with him having driven one of his Micras from his home. We met at Wolverton to see the 1Z86 Cumbrian Coast Express pass with 86259 doing the honours as usual. Due to it being delayed by about twenty minutes, control kept it on the down fast so we positioned ourselves on platform two. Despite the grey weather, a reasonable photograph was produced. We then drove both cars to Andy's home and he popped me back to Roade.....what a complicated morning! In the afternoon, to maintain my nine-day unbroken record of getting 10 000 steps, I went for a blowy walk around the village. Coincidentally, a freight was passing under Hyde Road bridge as I did so!

66547, 03.25 Garston FLT-London Gateway (4L52), Wolverton station
The 4L52 03.25 Garston to London Gateway Freightliner passes at speed through Wolverton station hauled by 66547. Andy met me just outside the station on this cold and blustery morning that had been a feature of the weather for the previous week....bring on spring and summer!

390114 'City of Manchester' heads towards its namesake with the 07.35 from Euston. It is seen a full line speed racing through Wolverton station having not stopped at Milton Keynes some two miles south of this spot.

86259, outward leg of The Cumbrian Coast Express, 07.10 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z86), Wolverton station
Looking absolutely superb, as usual, 86259 'Les Ross/PeterPan' races through Wolverton station running some twenty minutes late with The Cumbrian Coast Express 1Z86 from Euston to Carlisle. As it was running late, control sensibly kept it on the down fast here rather than running it on the slow as far as Hanslope Junction to then switch it to the fast. On arrival at its destination, all lost time had been made up. The return leg was also unaffected by the extreme weather that affected many parts of Scotland and northern England on this day, despite its exposed route back south around the Cumbrian coast.

66540, 12.32 Crewe Basford Hall-Wembley yard (4L90), Hyde Road bridge, Roade
My afternoon constitutional happened to coincide with the passage through the village of the 12.32 Crewe Basford Hall to Wembley yard Freightliner! 66540 'Ruby' leads the 4L90 bang on-time through Roade about to pass under Hyde Road bridge. Another example of a Freightliner heading in the 'export direction' that is only half loaded
