A superb autumn day that found us doing our walk to Sheringham from Kelling Heath. After leaving my sone and wife to entertain themselves, I walked back to collect the car.

M56352 & M51192, 10.35 Holt-Sheringham, Weybourne
In lovely warm autumnal light, one of the North Norfolk Railway's class 101 DMUs, M56352 and M51192 arrive at Weybourne working the 10.35 from Holt to Sheringham. Generally, I am not a fan of this time of year, but, in terms of photography, it does produce the best quality of light that can contribute to some lovely pictures.

M51192, 10.35 Holt-Sheringham & 1982, 10.30 Sheringham-Holt, Weybourne station
A delightful scene at Weybourne station sees the NNR's resident Hunslet saddle tank 1982 'Ring Haw' at the head of the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt. Just in view on platform one is M51192 that is working the 10.35 Holt to Sheringham. This picture clearly shows what a well-maintained and authentic station Weybourne is, of all of their stations, it is the jewel in their crown!

M51192, 10.35 Holt-Sheringham & 1982, 10.30 Sheringham-Holt, Weybourne station
1982 'Ring Haw' blows off as it waits at Weybourne station to leave with the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt. This small 0-6-0 will need a full head of steam as it is about to leave Weybourne and charge up Kelling bank. As the locomotive has been on the NNR since 1970, this is a challenge that it knows well!

M51192, 10.35 Holt-Sheringham & 1982, 10.30 Sheringham-Holt, Weybourne station
1982 'Ring Haw' was built by Hunslet in Leeds in 1940. It spent its entire working career at Nassington ironstone quarry in my home county of Northamptonshire. When the quarry closed in 1970, it moved to the fledgling North Norfolk Railway and has been there ever since. It is seen at Weybourne station with the 10.35 Holt to Sheringham.

M51192 & M56352, 11.20 Sheringham-Holt, Weybourne station
The 10.30 Sheringham to Holt service arrives at Weybourne station. It is formed by one of the North Norfolk Railway's resident class 101 DMUs, in this case, M51192 and M56352. In the background, the busy Weybourne yard is in view. D6732 (37032) and D5631(31207) are stabled in the bay platform in front of a SR GUV that homes the NNR's model railway exhibition.

1982, 11.25 Holt-Sheringham, Weybourne station
Running tender first, 1982 'Ring Haw' arrives at Weybourne station with the 11.25 Holt-Sheringham. The station looks quiet, but there were a fair few passengers waiting to board the train for a lunch and an afternoon out in Sheringham, not us, we walk there!

The wooden armed summersault signal has been pulled off meaning that 1982 'Ring Haw' has the road to leave Weybourne. It is working the 11.25 Holt to Sheringham where it will arrive in about ten minutes time.

M56352 & M51192, 12.15 Holt-Sheringham, Weybourne station
Having run up to Holt, the class 101 DMU composed of M56352 and M51192 pause at Weybourne's platform two with the 12.15 Holt to Sheringham. The more observant will notice that the unit is running 'wrong line'. This is because in the other direction, the Sunday North Norfolkman dining train is running and it uses platform one also running 'wrong line'

1982, 12.10 Sheringham-Holt, The North Norfolkman dining train, Weybourne station
1982 'Ring Haw' brings the the North Norfolkman dining train into Weybourne station. As well as being the 12.10 Sheringham to Holt service train, two additional Mk1 coaches have been added, one a dining car and the other a kitchen dining car. The train is seen entering Weybourne 'wrong line', as is common practice for this particular train, with passengers having to join and alight at platform one.

20227, D5631 & D6732, stabled, Weybourne station
Taken from the footbridge of Weybourne station, the yard and some of their stock can be seen basking in the warm autumnal sunshine. As well as D6372 (37032) and D5631 (31207) 20227 is also clearly on view in its London Underground livery. The twenty is owned by the Class 20 Locomotive Society but it seems to have taken up residence at the NNR.

D5631 & 20227, stabled, Weybourne yard
Stabled in Weybourne yard, D5631(31207) sits next to 20227. In front of both of them is the M&GN wooden signal post complete with wooden somersault signal arm on top. Whilst D5631 is in an authentic British Railways green livery the class 20 is far from authentic being painted in a London Underground paint scheme.

M51192 & M56352, 12.15 Holt-Sheringham, Weybourne TG125424
With the vast expanse of the North Sea in the background, class 101 DMU M51192 and M56352 work along the North Norfolk Railway forming the 12.15 Holt to Sheringham. The picture is taken from the footpath that links Weybourne station with Sheringham Park. It is very popular with walker, cyclists and horse riders alike. For considerable lengths, it affords lovely views such as this.
M51192 & M56352, 13.00 Sheringham-Holt, Dead Man`s Bridge
Having returned to Sheringham, M51192 and M56352 work back to Holt again with the 13.00 departure. With the coastguard station atop of Skelding Hill and Sheringham golf course in the background, the train is about to pass under the curiously named Dead Man's bridge. One can surmise as to why the bridge may be so named but I do not want to think any more about it!

1982, 15.30 Sheringham-Holt, Sheringham station
Having completed its duties hauling the North Norfolkman dining train, 1982 'Ring Haw' waits to leave Sheringham with the 15.30 to Holt, the final steam service to Holt of the day. Despite it being the end of October and on the North Sea coast, it is warm and pleasant afternoon. Having taken this picture, I am about to walk back to our holiday base at the Kelling Heath park to collect the car so as to drive back again to pick my wife and son up.
