A Saturday morning trip to Weedon to collect my Mac from the repair shop. I combined this with seeing the Winter on the Cumbrian Mountain Express railtour. I decided to try the new A45 road bridge that bypasses Weedon. I visited it a couple of weeks ago but the foggy conditions of today made it a slightly different proposition.

390002, VT 07.30 London Euston-Glasgow Central (1S42, 10L), A45 Weedon bypass bridge 390002 'Stephen Sutton' is about to pass under the A45 Weedon bypass bridge just to the north of the village with the 07.30 Euston to Glasgow Central. 86259, outward leg of The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express, 07.10 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z86), A45- Weedon bypass bridge 86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' cuts through the dense fog with the 1Z86 Winter on the Cumbrian Mountain Express railtour that left Euston a little later than its scheduled 07.10. The train is seen passing Weedon taken from the lofty heights of the new A45 bridge that is part of the bypass opened in December 2018. Unfortunately, the customers who paid to go on this railtour expected steam haulage up and over Shap returning via the Settle and Carlisle route were to be disappointed as 35018 'British India Line' was declared a failure at Carnforth before even being attached to the train so it was hauled by 47826. 390152, VT 07.35 London Euston-Manchester Piccadilly (1H62, 2L), A45 Weedon bypass bridge 390152 'Virgin Knight' passes a very foggy Weedon with the 07.35 Euston to Manchester Piccadilly. The picture is taken from the new A45 road bridge just north of the village. After a very foggy start to the day, within an hour or so, the sun was out and it was a glorious early spring day.
