350119, LM 08.33 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (1W06), Northampton station
The rear of our train to London, the 08.33 Birmingham New Street to Euston formed by 350119 at Northampton. This 1W06 service is the one that we nearly always use as it's the first up fast off-peak train of the day but that does mean that it gets a little busy.

66030, unidentified down freight, Willesden yard
66030 sits at the head of an unidentified down freight in Wembley yard. Most pictures that I take from passing trains in this area include Wembley stadium and this one is no exception.

90040, stabled, Willesden yard
Looking smart in the early autumn sunshine in Wembley yard, 90040 is seen stabled between duties. I like the symmetry created by the barrel distortion of the lens at its widest 15.1mm in this picture. So, I deliberately have not used Photoshop's transform functions to straighten things up as I would normally do.

66182, up freight, Willesden yard
Unlike the last picture, I have used Photoshop's layers and transform functions to straighten tings up eliminating distortion that is inevitable at the lens' widest focal length of 15.1mm. Whilst this is a far more realistic image it doesn't have the same character of the last one....your choice! 66182 is seen at the head of a down freight at the southern end of Wembley yard with the Princess Royal Distribution Centre behind.

350242, LM 10.54 London Euston-Northampton (2N11) & 378207, LO 10.57 London Euston-Watford Junction (2D83), London Euston station
350242 stands at platform ten of Euston. It will soon work the 10.54 to Northampton. Next to it, on platform nine, London Overground's 378207 will leave three minutes after the London Midland service with the 10.57 to Watford Junction.

390154, VT 19.30 London Euston-Glasgow Central (1S06), London Euston station
390154 'Matthew Flinders' waits to leave Euston with the final Scottish service of the day, excluding the sleeper. The 1S06 19.30 to Glasgow Central arrives in Central station at just after midnight.

350115, VT 14.00 Glasgow Central-London Euston (9M84), London Euston station
This image clearly shows what a dreadful station Euston is. What on earth were the architects thinking of in the 1960s when the new station was designed and built remains a total mystery? 350115 sits at the blocks having arrived with the 14.00 from Glasgow Central.

350119, LM 19.49 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (1Y79), London Euston station
Our train home from London waits at platform seven of Euston. It will work the 19.49 to Birmingham New Street that we took as far as Northampton. Notice the HST STOP sign a relic from the days when HSTs were used on certain West Coast services.

Tickets, Northampton-London Euston-Northampton
Our return tickets from Northampton to Euston. £22.40 is pretty good value for the pair of us to get to London and back, try doing that in a car including parking for a day!
