A stunning winter morning so I ventured out for an hour to Victoria bridge south of Roade on the WCML to capture no fewer than three infrastructure trains following on from overnight possessions on the fast lines.

390151, VT 11.07 Wolverhampton-London Euston (1B13, 4E), Victoria bridge
In stunning winter light 390151 'Virgin Ambassador' passes Victoria bridge just south of Roade working the 1B13 11.07 Wolverhampton to Euston. In all honesty, I really do prefer this lighting to the much stronger and more direct light of summer that produces much heavier shadows. The problem is as the the sun is so low, catching trains in the sunlight is the tricky thing to achieve!

66056, 10.45 Weedon-Bescot (via Bletchley) (7R03), Victoria bridge
The first of three infrastructure trains to pass Victoria bridge between Roade and Ashton was the 7R03 10.45 Weedon to Bescot. This train had worked up to Bletchley earlier following overnight engineering works on the Weedon loop line. The 66 then ran round at Bletchely and is seen returning north, this time, via the Northampton. line.

350120 & 350128, 11.14 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (2Y16, RT), Victoria bridge
350120 and 350128 work the 11.14 Birmingham New Street to London Euston past Victoria bridge jut south of Roade that can be seen in the background, including my house! The picture is taken in glorious winter sunshine but notice the dark front that was slowly approaching from the north west. Within an hour or so, this front had blocked out the sun and turned a lovely morning into a dull afternoon!

66515, 07.46 Ledburn Junction-Crewe Basford Hall (via Wembley yard) (6Y52), Victoria bridge
The second of the three infrastructure trains to pass Victoria bridge in 45 minutes of each other. This one is led by 66515 (a cop for me!) that had started out heading south from Ledburn Junction to Wembley. Here it ran round and then returned north as 6Y52 to Crewe Basford Hall.

37219 & 37175, 10.57 Willesden-Crewe Basford Hall (6C37), Victoria bridge
The third and final infrastructure train to pass Victoria bridge and what a one to finish on! Colas' 37219 'Shirley Ann Smith' leads the 6C37 10.57 Willesden to Crewe Basford Hall empty track flats train. 37175 can be seen bringing up the rear. The driver was giving the lead loco. some beans, I heard it's English Electric soundtrack a fair distance away way before it came into view about two miles away!

37175 & 37219, 10.57 Willesden-Crewe Basford Hall (6C37), Victoria bridge
Dead in tow, 37175 is seen at the back of the 10.57 Willesden to Crewe Basford Hall infrastructure working of track wagons. 37175 'Shirley Ann Smith' is doing all the work at the front. Notice how the blue sky from earlier has been covered by a lot of dark cloud as a very pronounced cold front heads down from the north west spoiling the rest of the afternoon.
