A work trip with my boss to Woodlesford just south of Leeds to collect two cars for customers. Whilst I drove a nice Fiesta, he was trying to keep up in a Peugeot struggling to keep up in limp-mode; I know who made the right choice!

43076, EM 05.31 Sheffield-London St. Pancras (1C11), Wellingborough station
At a chilly Wellingborough station 43076 'In Support of Heroes' sits at the rear of the 05.31 Sheffield to St. Pancras. The East Midland livery certainly brightens up a dull morning and, as usual with this operator, the train is kept clean and smart.

37175, stabled, RVEL Derby
In Colas livery, 37175 sits outside RVEL at Derby. After being withdrawn in 2006 it was reinstated in January 2014 having undergone refurbishment. It is attached to a former First Great Western Night Riviera Mk. 2D day coach 9481. This is now part of the Network Rail test train being used as a support coach.

975025 & 20154, stabled, RVEL Derby
Network Rail observation car 975025 is seen stabled at Derby's RVEL depot. Constructed in 1958, this former trailer buffet car was built at Eastleigh as part of the narrow-body DEMU 1036. Now named 'Caroline' it is used as an observation car and can be seen all over the network usually propelled by a veteran Class 37. In the background, 20154 can be seen receiving some attention away from its home on the GCR(N) heritage railway.

08536, stored, RVEL Derby
Long withdrawn 08536 looks very sorry for itself as it stands outside RVEL at Derby. It was withdrawn in 1995 and after storage at nearby Etches Park it moved here to RVEL. As for its future, who knows?

31459, stabled, RVEL Derby
Having been withdrawn from service three years previous to this photograph being taken, 31459 'Cerberus' sits forlornly at Derby's RVEL site. This former Fragonset loco. faces a very uncertain future but I am sure that it will find a home on a preserved line somewhere in the country?

222003, EM 06.32 London St. Pancras-Sheffield (1F05), Derby station
This was our train from Wellingborough to Sheffield, the 06.32 St. Pancras to Sheffield worked by 222003 'Tornado'. Much to the concern of my travelling colleague and boss, I alighted here at Derby station in order to get this shot at the station half way through its protracted rebuilding programme.

68004, stabled, Derby station
Taken from the platform end at Derby station, 68004 'Rapid' is seen stabled. A bit of a grab shot as I had alighted from the train I was travelling on from Wellingborough to Sheffield and did not want the doors to close behind me, bring back slam-door stock I say!

144006, NT 09.06 Sheffield-Leeds (2L18), Sheffield station
Time for some Pacer action at Sheffield! 144006 waits to leave with the 2L18 09.06 working to Leeds that we would travel on as far as Woodlesford. Not a very quick service that stopped at every station travelling via Barnsley, Wakefield Kirkgate followed by a reversal at Castleford. On a cold morning such as this, the heating struggled to keep the train warm with all the drafts from the doors and windows. Having done thirty years of service, it really it is time was called on these units!

144006, NT 09.06 Sheffield-Leeds (2L18), Woodlesford station
The guard of the 09.06 Sheffield to Leeds service looks a little under-dressed for this chilly February morning. The train has paused at Woodlesford station south east of Leeds that has a split platform with the other one just behind me. We have just alighted from the train having travelled from Sheffield.
