76. 45 minutes at Victoria Bridge-30.11.18

THE ARCHIVE FILES > Archive-2018 > 76. 45 minutes at Victoria Bridge-30.11.18
After doing the household chores on my day off and with the sun out I went out and spent 45 minutes across the field from home at Victoria bridge. As it turned out, four freights passed and one infrastructure train (as well as everything else on a busy Friday afternoon).

350126, LN 13.13 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (1Y39, 1L), Victoria bridge
It's just gone 14.00 and already the low cutting at Victoria bridge just south of Roade in Northamptonshire is in shadow. Careful use of Photoshop has enabled a reasonable image of 350126 on the 13.13 Euston to Birmingham New Street to be produced. Only three weeks until the shortest day!

DR98010, DR98011, DR98004 & DR98003, 11.58 Chelmsford-Rugby, Victoria bridge
I had been tracking this working on Opentraintimes presuming that it was some kind of infrastructure train and I was correct. DR9810, DR98011, DR98004 and DR98003 form the 11.58 Chelmsford to Rugby move past Victoria bridge in south Northamptonshire. These Network Rail operated multi-purpose vehicles are used in connection with repairs and maintenance of the OLE. The centre sections between the two cabs are platforms that raise up enabling staff to undertake work at height.

66598, 12.12 Lawley Street-London Gateway (4L46), Victoria bridge
66598 heads past Victoria bridge on the southern section of the WCML between Northampton and Milton Keynes leading the heavily loaded 4L46 12.12 Lawley Street to London Gateway Freightliner. The whole morning (when I could not get out) had been gloriously sunny, the moment I got the camera out for an hour, the sun went in behind a line of troublesome cloud!

66301, 13.51 DIRFT-Ripple Lane FLT (4L48), Victoria bridge
DRS 66301 'Kingmoor TMD' leads the 13.51 Daventry Railfreight Terminal to Ripple Lane terminal past Victoria bridge just south of Roade. This Freightliner service would normally have gone to Purfleet but, according to RTT, 'This service was cancelled between Ripple Lane F.L.T. and Purfleet Deep Wtr Wf (Flt) due to a request by the customer (FL).' However, I have my doubts as to the accuracy of this as RTT has having a 'funny' on this afternoon with some services not being accurately recorded.

66572, unidentified down Freightliner, Victoria bridge
66572 leads an unidentified Freightliner working past Victoria Bridge just north of Hanslope Junction on the WCML. It really should be not too difficult to identify workings with all the technology at our disposal. However, when that technology has a wobble, as RTT did on this afternoon, we are a bit stuck! This Freightliner could have been one of the 11.24 London Gateway to Crewe Basford Hall or less than likely, the 09.25 Southampton to Garston. Can anybody advise me?

66759, 10.46 Felixstowe North-Hams Hall (4M23), Victoria bridge
Under a dramatic early winter sky, 66759 'Chippy' leads the 10.46 Felixstowe to Hams Hall Freightliner working. It is seen passing Victoria bridge in south Northamptonshire. This working was the fourth that passed this spot in 45 minutes and goes to show how busy the WCML can be; HS2 anybody?
