Another visit to London King's Cross but I am not absolutely sure why I went and who (if anybody) I went with! The weather was considerably better than when I last visited in February and the quality of the images was consequentially better too! Looking at the negatives, I was using a roll of Kodak film this time, whereas before it was one of the unbranded 'free films' that you used to get when you sent your film off for processing and printing; that probably had a bit to do with it! There is an audio file of part of the event on my Youtube channel, please check this out.

40074 & 55002, stabled, London Kings Cross station
40074 and 55002 'The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry' sit stabled on the eastern side of King's Cross station. This new stabling area was created with the rebuilding of the platforms from the Great Northern electrification programme and the closure of York Road station that was situated directly behind the locomotives.

55006, 16.00 London Kings Cross-Edinburgh, The Talisman (1S42) & 47493, unidentified down working, London Kings Cross station
55006 'The Fife and Forfar Yeomanry' makes a typically smoky departure from London King's Cross with the 16.00 to Edinburgh titled as 'The Talisman'. Behind the train sits 47493 on an unidentified down working. Whist the Deltic is no longer with us, the Class 47 is – just! It was converted in 1979 to become one of the Scottish Region's push-pull locomotives to speed up the Edinburgh to Glasgow services. It was renumbered 47701 being named 'St. Andrew'. It was renamed 'Waverley' in 1997 and, at the time of writing in 2018, resides at Nemesis Rail in Burton-on-Trent.

There is an audio recording of the engines of 55006 starting its engines here ar King's Cross on my youtube channel, see.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7Xg9wuJgDI&feature=youtu.be

55017, 15.00 London Kings Cross-Newcastle (1N18), London Kings Cross station
55017 'The Durham Light Infantry' looks to be running on both engines as it leaves King's Cross. I have this down in my notes as the 1N18 15.00 to Newcastle. However, I think that this is incorrect as it's the next image on the negative strip after 55002 that worked the 15.00 to Edinburgh according to the Chronicles of Napier website, any information to solve this mystery gratefully appreciated. 55017 was one of my favourite Deltics as it was the first one I ever saw as a spotter in 1977 at York. In this image, notice the BR (Eastern Region) blue enamel above the portacabin to the far left. The cabin has now gone (along with the enamel) and the entrance is where the track for platform 0 goes into the station.
