A day that I dread; when the clocks go back and, as far as I am concerned, winter begins! To mark this occasion, as it was a reasonable but cold afternoon, I took a walk through the village to Roade Cutting.

390045, VT 12.55 Manchester Piccadilly-London Euston (1A31, RT), Roade Cutting
390045 'Virgin Pride' passes through Roade Cutting with the 12.55 Manchester to Euston. In its new flying silk livery, it certainly brightens up the rather dingy depths of the cutting.

With just a hint of afternoon light reflected in its windscreen, 350108 leads 350114 through Roade Cutting. It is working the Sunday 2Y28 Birmingham New Street to Euston service.

Even though there is very limited light in the depths of Roade Cutting, as can be seen, the sun was actually shining! In London Northwestern's awful new livery, 350370 leads 350247 forming the 13.34 Euston to Birmingham New Street.

With autumn colours in abundance, 390124 'Virgin Venturer' heads south through Roade Cutting working the 10.38 Glasgow Central to Euston. Despite the gloom of the cutting, the sun was actually out!

Class 221s, VT 11.50 Holyhead-London Euston (1A35, 1E), Roade Cutting
A pair of class 221s race through Roade Cutting working the 11.50 Holyhead to Euston. A ten-car 221 is composed of a pair of units joined together that needs double manning; not the most efficient way to run a train service!

150109 & 153375, 14.45 Bletchley CS-Tyseley (5Y30), Roade Cutting
A regular Sunday working that I have managed very few picture of is the Bletchley to Tyseley ECS move. This involves the DMUs that have been used on the Bedford to Bletchley line returning to their Birmingham base for servicing and an exam. Another pair of units do the reverse journey to take up their duties on the Marston Vale line the following week. It is a move that will not last much longer as there are plans that the Vivarail class 230s will take over this service in the New Year. At the time of writing, testing is taking place on the line.

DR73936, unidentified working, Roade Cutting
Colas Rail's Plasser and Theurer 08-4X4/4S-RT, switch and crossing tamper DR73936 puts in an appearance as it passes Roade Cutting with an unidentified southbound working. I was tracking it on Open Train Times but it was not working recorded on RTT.
