This is definitely NOT how I would like to travel to Glasgow from London late on a winter Sunday evening! I'm sure that train controllers have their reasons for running a thirsty DMU 400 miles under fully energised 25kv overhead wires but I could do with explaining to me; what a waste! 221142 'Bombardier Voyager' waits to leave the capital with the 9S97 to Glasgow Central.

350234, LM 17.50 London Euston-Crewe (1U45, RT), Northampton station
Having travelled back from London with my wife and son, who are now walking down the platform, I went to the front to photograph 350234 pausing at Northampton with the 17.50 Euston to Crewe. It's testament to modern camera technology that I can produce such a reasonable image using the camera hand held in very dark conditions on a platform end
