350108, LM 11.49 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (1W11, 1L), Northampton station
Our train to Birmingham waits at Northampton station. 350108 forms the 11.49 Euston to Birmingham New Street. Taken directly into the early winter sunshine but as with all my 'train travelled on ' pictures, it acts purely as a record; that's my excuse anyway!

350109, LM 11.33 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (1W12, 5L), Northampton station
350109 drifts into Northampton station with the 11.33 Birmingham new Street to London Euston. This class 350 is one of the original batch that were introduced to this line new in 2005. They have remained ever since and are about to outlive their second TOC as London Midland passes over to London Northwesteren next month. The first TOC who used them was the much missed Silverlink.

Former Curzon Street station (To be developed into HS2)
On the approach down into New Street the former Curzon Street station can be seen clearly to the right. It was built by the London and Birmingham Railway and opened in 1838. It was closed to passengers very early on in 1893 becoming a busy goods depot that itself closed in 1966. It is about to have a rebirth as this will be the Birmingham terminus for HS2.

Tickets, Northampton-Birmingham New Street
The same fare as the previous week for the same journey, £12.60 OP return is not bad value.
