With the morning light becoming a bit touch and go, the 1Z86 path was becoming increasingly difficult to photograph. Locations had to be chosen for maximum light and the weather had to relatively good. I chose the footbridge in Roade that crosses the railway at the site of the old station. Despite the path leading to the bridge being 'temporarily closed' for the building of new houses, I managed to get to it!

390135, VT 07.20 London Euston-Manchester Piccadilly (1H09, 4L), site of Roade station
Asking a fair bit of the camera in the gloom of a cloudy early November morning but it still amanges to capture 390135 'City of Lancaster' passing the site of Roade station working the 07.20 London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly. The old Roade signal box was located approximately behind coaches A and B.

86259 'Les Ross/ Peter Pan' takes the down fast past the site of Roade station with the the 1Z51 07.10 Euston to Holyhead Cathedrals Express. The vintage AC electric lead the train as far as Crewe where Black 5 45699 took overs and lead the train to Holyhead.

70010, 03.35 Garston-London Gateway (4L52), site of Roade station
With some welcome early morning brightness, 70010 leads the regular 4L52 03.35 Garston to London Gateway Freightliner past the site of Roade station. Whenever a class 70 is working past Roade (where I live) it usually stands out as they are a lot noisier than the usual class 66 fare!
