Due to closure of the Northampton loop line for Sunday engineering works, everything was going via the Weedon line including a bit of freight. So, a pleasant ride out on my Brompton was in order!

Things obviously went well on the final stage of this train's journey as it arrived six minutes early into the capital.

A class 66 on an engineering train is not unusual but examination reveals that it's on the down fast that is not so common! 661124 will have to get a move on as it takes the down fast past Victoria Bridge with the 10.30 Wembley to Bescot. Indeed, a number of WCML down services were stacked up behind it as it made its way round the Weedon loop to Rugby.
