A chilly morning trip to see The Cumbrian Mountain Express. I decided to go to Wolverton station as the sun would be just about acceptable and it's not a station I take pictures at that often. Soon afterwards, the weekly class 455 drag left Wolverton Works so I nipped just south of Wolverton to capture this move. After a coffee, back home!

66520, 02.57 Felixstowe North-Garston (4M45), Wolverton station 66520 just catches some early morning sun as it speeds through Wolverton station leading the 02.57 Felixstowe to Garston 4M45 Freightliner. This picture is not perfectly positioned as the nice lady was warning customers to 'stand well back from the edge of platform three' as I was walking through the station car park so it was a bit of a 'sprint and grab' shot! 66594, 04.25 Felixstowe North-Lawley Street (4M88), Wolverton station Just five minutes behind the 4M45 is the 4M88, the 04.25 Felixstowe to Lawley Street Freightliner. It is seen running through Wolverton station with 66594 'NYK Spirit of Kyoto'. This 66 is now eleven years old arriving at Newport on the MV Fairload in February 2007. 390137, VT 06.10 Manchester Piccadilly-London Euston (1A05, 3L), Wolverton station 390137 'Virgin Difference' just dips into the early morning shadows at Wolverton as it heads south on the up fast with the 06.10 Manchester Piccadilly to Euston. I love the colours and the lighting of autumn but it can create issues with extreme contrast as shown here but some tweaking with Photoshop usually results in a reasonable image. 86259, outward leg of The Cumbrian Mountain Express, 07.10 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z86), Wolverton station 86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' leads the outward leg of The Cumbrian Mountain Express running as 1Z86 from Euston to Carlisle. The train is seen passing through Wolverton station, a spot that I rarely photograph at even though it is only a short distance from home. 390049, VT 07.15 Manchester Piccadilly-London Euston (1A09, RT), Dansteed Way bridge Taken from Dansteed Way in Milton Keynes, 390049 is slowing for its stop at the station working the 07.15 Manchester to London Euston. There are very few spots around Milton Keynes to photograph trains. All the bridges have huge concrete tops and palisade fencing is everywhere. 37884 & 455819, 08.55 Wolverton Centre Sidings-Stewarts Lane (5Q88), Dansteed Way bridge The regular Saturday morning 5Q88 move is the 08.55 Wolverton Works to Stewart's Lane. This move involves the towing of a class 455 having received repairs at Wolverton. Another Southern electric is then towed back later in the day. Taken from Dansteed Way in Milton Keynes, 37884 'Cepheus' leads 455819. Unfortunately, opportunities to photograph in this area are extremely limited, if it had been an hour later it would have been in the sun!
