On Sunday afternoon, I nipped out to Berkley just east of Frome. There was not much about but it was good to see a freight!

43015 & 43143, GW 12.56 Penzance-London Paddington (1A90, 2L), Berkley ST802494 43015 and 43143 pass the tiny village of Berkley just outside Frome working the 12.56 Penzance to London Paddington. In recent years, the banks have been cleared by Network Rail at this spot and others in the vicinity. But, as can be seen in this shot, it is beginning to grow back again. 66511, 13.48 Twyford West-Fairwater Yard HOBC (6C73), Berkley ST802494 In a welcome burst of sunshine, 66511 leads the 13.48 Twyford to Taunton Fairwater Yard HOBC (High Output Ballast Cleaner) 6C73 working past Berkley just east of Frome. 66539, 13.48 Twyford West-Fairwater Yard HOBC (6C73 ), Berkley ST802494 66539 appears to be doing all the work at the back of the 13.48 Twyford to Taunton Fairwater Yard HOBC train. 66511 is up at the front of the train and has already passed under the A361 bridge near to Berkley and will be in view at Frome's Clink Road Junction. 43164 & 43188, GW 15.57 London Paddington-Plymouth (1C87, 12L), Berkley ST802494 43164 leads with 43188 at the rear past Berkley between Westbury and Frome. It is forming the 1C87 15.57 Paddington to Plymouth. Notice the Westbury White Horse is catching some afternoon sunshine just to the left of the electricity pylon in the background. 150221 & 150248, GW 16.58 Yeovil Pen Mill-Bristol Temple Meads (Cancelled Weymouth-Yeovil Pen Mill) (2V86, 1E), Berkley ST802494 150221 and 150248 past Berkley near Frome with the 16.58 Yeovil Pen Mill to Bristol Temple Meads. 150248 & 150221, GW 16.58 Yeovil Pen Mill-Bristol Temple Meads (Cancelled Weymouth-Yeovil Pen Mill) (2V86, 1E), Berkley ST802494 In its GW green livery that seems to do its best to blend in with the summer countryside, 150221 (with 150248) work the 16.58 Yeovil Pen Mill to Bristol past Berkley between Frome and Westbury. These class 150s have been the mainstay of local workings in this area for many years but things are set to change with the introduction of new units cascaded from from other areas.
