Another nice Friday morning so another trip out to capture the sleeper. This time, the added interest was I was using my new camera for the first time. After due diligence, I have bought a tine Canon GX1 Mk. III, see the technical notes section for more details.

Class 390, VT 06.16 London Euston-Manchester Piccadilly (1H06, 3L), Blisworth
The first railway picture taken with the new Canon GX1 Mk. III, an unidentified class 390 forming the 06.16 Euston to Manchester Piccadilly passes Blisworth in Northamptonshire. This picture illustrates the capabilities of the new camera, a much increased dynamic range meaning there is good exposure and detail in the dark foreground whilst the very light sky still retains some colour and is not too burnt out. And, despite it exposing at 2000ISO there is very good rendition of noise, even though I have given it a bit of Neat Image treatment.

90044 'Couperin' leads the 1M16 up Caledonian Sleeper past Blisworth in Northamptonshire. It was on-time and it was interesting to see it hauled by a class 92 in its original 'as built' livery. Built by Brush in Loughborough this class 92 was released into traffic in March 1996.
