222012, EM 08.29 London St. Pancras-Nottingham (1D14, 9L), Sharnbrook TL003590
222012 begins it ascent of Sharnbrook Bank working the 08.29 St. Pancras to Nottingham. It is seen about to cross Sharnbrook Viaduct that in itself crosses the River Great Ouse. The lighting is very strange and no amount of 'Photoshopping' could get it any better!

43066, EM 07.46 Sheffield-London St. Pancras (1C22, 1L), Sharnbrook TL003590
HST power car 43066 leads the 07.46 Sheffield to St. Pancras across Sharnbrook viaduct. 43066 was an Eastern Region unit as part of 254006 that was delivered in 1978. The combination of a view looking into the light and the early spring grass in the meadow has created a strange lighting effect.

Class 222s, EM 08.56 London St. Pancras-Sheffield (1F15, 1L) Sharnbrook TL003590
Two class 222 Meridians cross Sharnbrook's grand viaduct working the 08.56 London St. Pancras to Sheffield. After crossing the Great Ouse valley, the train will past Sharnbrook Junction and start to climb to the summit before descending to Wellingborough.

Class 222, EM 09.16 Corby-London St. Pancras (1P24, 5L), Sharnbrook TL003590
An unidnetifed class 222 Meridian heads south over Sharnbrook Viaduct with the 09.16 Corby to St. Pancras. The viaduct has just had a huge amount spent on it by Network Rail to strengthen and prolong it life. This was part of the electrification programme for the MML.

43046, EM 09.15 London St. Pancras-Nottingham (1D17, 7L), Sharnbrook Viaduct
43046 brings up the rear of the 09.15 from London st. Pancras to Nottingham. It is seen crossing Sharnbrook Viaduct in Bedfordshire. 43046 was a slightly later Western Region power car built in 1977 that was part of set 253023. Despite appearances, I was not trespassing taking this picture, I was standing on the top of a pretty steep grass bank that rises up from flat land below the viaduct.

222102, EM 08.49 Sheffield-London St. Pancras (1C27, 6L), Sharnbrook Viaduct
Former Hull Trains 222102 crosses Sharnbrook Viaduct forming the 08.49 Sheffield to London St. Pancras. I want no complaints about my position here taking this picture, it was all quite legal standing at the top of a steep grassy bank that rose from below. I was leaning against the usual fencing that prevented any further progress on the viaducts or running lines.

66605, 05.24 Tunstead Sidings-West Thurrock, Sharnbrook Viaduct
In this view, it is clear to see the difference between the viaduct that had been the subject of an extensive refurbishment and the one that has not! 66605 crosses Sharnbrook's 'slow' viaduct with the 05.25 Tunstead to West Thurrock tanker train. The slow line has become a double track again here as Sharnbrook Junction, where it singled, is just beyond the other end of the viaduct.

222005, EM 09.29 Sheffield-London St. Pancras (1C30), Moor End Lane Bridge TL007580
Since Sharnbrook Junction, about two miles away in the distance, the slow and fast lines have been at different levels and they continue like this for some distance. Here, 222005 working the 09.29 Sheffield to London St. Pancras passes Moor End Lane Bridge on the up fast that is down below in a mini cutting.

222022, EM 10.26 St. Pancras-Sheffield (1F23, 1E), Moor End Lane Bridge TL007580
222022 'Invest In Nottingham' heads in that direction working the 10.26 St. Pancras to Sheffield. The train is about to pass over Sharnbrook Viaduct that spans the River Great Ouse. When the Victorians constructed the railway, they had to build the huge embankment that the slow and fast lines travel on as shown here. This lofty structure spans the valley prior to actually crossing the river on the viaducts.

222013, EM 10.05 Nottingham-London St. Pancras (1B31, 2L), Moor End Lane Bridge TL007580
222013 takes the low level up fast line working the 10.05 Nottingham to London St. Pancras. It has just crossed Sharnbrook Viaduct that can be seen in the background.

222101, EM 10.29 London St. Pancras-Nottingham (1D24, 9L), Moor End Lane Bridge TL007580
A little back-lit but any shot of the pre-electrification MML is worth considering! 222101 works the 10.29 St. Pancras to Nottingham and is seen passing Moor End Lane Bridge on a small lane just north of Radwell in Bedfordshire. Evidence can be seen of works carried out to prepare for electrification with the new raised bridge deck and parapet in the distance.
