By London Midland to Euston from Northampton, a short walk to St. Pancras and a superb trip by Eurostar to Brussels Midi. This was my wife's first trip on Eurostar and, she had to admit that she was very impressed (and that takes some doing; believe me!). This was despite that she slept the entire journey through the tunnel waking up somewhere between Calais and Lille! Arrival time into Brussels was spot-on to the second!

Our train to London arrives into Northampton. My wife, son and I boarded this with our two suitcases at the start of our 'Benelux adventure'! 350129 was working the 09.14 Birmingham New Street to Euston.

Demolition of Euston Downside Carriage Maintenance Depot
The Euston Downside shed and sidings have not been used since locomotive hauled trains finished in 2004/5. Since then, it had its catenary removed, become increasingly overgrown and has structurally deteriorated. Finally, a concerted move has been made to demolish it and this process is under way as seen in this image.
Demolition of Euston Downside Carriage Maintenance Depot
The Euston Downside Carriage Maintenance Depot finally went out of use in 2004/5 with the end of locomotive hauled services. It has stood abandoned since but is finally being demolished as shown here. The space is needed to accommodate HS2 and, as such, this scene will change dramatically over the coming few years.
373022, ES 12.58 London St.Pancras International-Brussls Midi (9132), London St
Under the grandiose train shed at St. Pancras International 373022 waits to leave working the 12.58 to Brussels Midi. My family and I travelled on this service all the way to the Belgium capital. The comfort and ride of these 373s is quite superb. So much so, that I did not get out of my seat to stretch my legs for the whole journey. Unfortunately, the Wifi was not working meaning my son was not the happiest man on the train!

Tickets, London St.Pancras International-Brussels Midi
The on-line tickets for the journey. Whilst the price was more that our friends at the budget airlines, the convenience and travelling experience is infinitely better; I would always chose Eurostar for a journey into northern Europe such as this.
