Andy came over to do some tutoring with my son. Before the work we had an hour out to play! We went to Roade Cutting and then to Victoria Bridge just near to home.

London Midland 350101 passes through Roade Cutting on the down fast with the 1U37 13.46 Euston to Crewe working. This was a day of sunshine and showers, one of which had just passed.

66545 & 66516, unidentified down Freightliner, Roade Cutting
I never did manage to work out what this working was! The fact it was double-headed could indicate that it was late running perhaps beacuse of failure? If anybody can let me know what 66545 and 66516 were powering on this day I would be very appreciative.

An unidentified class 221 powers through Roade Cutting forming the 14.10 London Euston to Chester (1D88). I observe and travel on these five-car units quite regularly and find them totally inadequate both in terms of passenger capacity and general ambiance.

An unidentified class 390 heads south through Roade Cutting forming the 10.00 Glasgow Central to London Euston, a journey that it will complete in about 35 minutes time. Notice, 66729 just entering the frame on the left leading the 10.46 Felixstowe North to Hams Hall Freightliner.

66588, 09.32 Felixstowe North-Crewe Basford Hall (4M88), Victoria Bridge
It's now raining again at Victoria Bridge as 66588 brings the 09.32 Felixstowe North to Crewe Basford Hall Freightliner past. I have visited this spot, just a short distance from my home, in all weather from winter blizzard conditions to high summer and it remains one of my favourites.

09.32 Felixstowe North-Crewe Basford Hall (4M88) & 66014, 14.47 Daventry Wembley LE, Victoria Bridge
It was lucky that the 4M88 09.32 Felixstowe to Crewe Freightliner heading north was lightly loaded as a gap in the boxes allowed a picture of 66014 heading south. 66014 was running light engine as the 14.47 Daventry International Railfreight Depot (DIRFT) to Wembley.
