Another of our trips to London! This time, my wife and I went to see Calendar Girls. It was all going to be quite a routine trip but for the natural event named as Storm Dorris!

350369 is the rear set of our eight coach train to Euston from Northampton. Due to services being re-timetabled because of the arrival of Storm Dorris the train ran a reduced speed and arrived into London some 36 minutes late.

66168, 07.07 Dollands Moor-DIRFT (6M45), Wembley Yard
66168 waits at the north exit of Wembley Yard at the head of the daily 07.07 Dollands Moor to Daventry wagons full of continental bottle water. I always have my camera ready when we pass Wembley because you just never know what is going to be sitting there!

Cannon Street signal box (Closed 1976) (BR, 1957)
If you are ever walking around Borough Market in south London sampling some of its superb food, raise your head up and you will see the derelict remains of Cannon Street signal box. It was built and opened in 1957 but closed in 1976 giving it an operational life of less than twenty years. Why it is still standing today I do not know but here it is in all its sad and decrepit glory!

350235, class 350 & 350369, LM 18.54 London Euston-Milton Keynes Central (2K09, 66L), Milton Keynes central station
On arrival back at Euston trains were in complete disarray following the impact of Storm Dorris. Basically, we decided to take the next train north that we could find. The first was the 18.54 to Milton Keynes that we figured would at least get us there. The onward journey to Northampton we would worry about on our arrival be it by train or a taxi home! Here, 350235 leads the three-set train after arrival at Milton Keynes some 66 minutes late.

350259, LM 20.13 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (1Y81, 51L), Northampton station
Having got off the terminating train and Milton Keynes Central it was not long before 350259 arrived with a very late Northampton working. We hopped on it and were home safe and sound if a little late, Storm Doris had passed! I love the lighting in this time exposure, it's amazing what a modern digital camera is capable of and all hand held!
