I picked Andy up and we popped down to the Marston Vale line between Bedford and Bletchley in order to see UK Railtours 'A Midland Meander'. This ran as 1Z67 staring and Euston and going via a circuitous route ending up at Stratford-on-Avon. It used DB Cargo stock and 67s top and tale.

London Midland operate a daily two unit shuttle service over the Marston Vale line between Bedford and Bletchley. This is the last time that the WCML and MMLs are directly linked until the Nuneaton to Leicester link is reached. Until the 1980s there was an intermediate link line that ran from Northampton to Market Harborough. 153354 forms the 08.39 Bletchley to Bedford working seen approaching Lidlington. The picture is taken from a public foot crossing just to the west of the village.

67022 brings up the rear of The Midland Meander railtour that started out at London Euston and was heading to Stratford-on-Avon. It is seen dropping down the grade towards Lidlington on the Marston Vale line approximately half way between Bletchley and Bedford. The picture is taken from a public foot crossing.
