After dropping my son off at work I spent an hour or so at Milton Malsor just outside Northampton. Since the palisade fencing was installed, a ladder is required at this spot but reasonable pictures can still be taken.

66027, 13.12 Trafford Park-London Gateway (4L56), Milton Malsor
At 62 miles from London Euston, Milton Malsor is a small village on the Northampton loop line just south of the town. 66027, looking good in its smart DB livery, leads the lightly loaded 4L56 13.12 Trafford Park to London Gateway Freightliner. Even though this was a lovely summer evening, it was a bit nippy with a keen wind blowing from the north west.

350108, LN 17.14 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (1Y70, 1E), Milton Malsor
350108 forms the 17.14 Birmingham New Street to London Euston past Milton Malsor. The installation of the dreaded palisade fencing here has meant all pictures have to taken by using a ladder. However, at least the fencing was the black painted variety rather than the more conspicuous silver type.

325004, 17.00 Warrington Royal Mail-Willesden (1A91), Milton Malsor
Having been well and truly bowled by a class 350 unit, a going away shot will have to suffice! The Royal Mail livery of these class 325 units makes for a really refreshing change from the usual paint schemes and it really stands out in its environment as here at Milton Malsor near to Northampton. 325004 brings up the rear of the 17.00 Warrington to Willesden Royal Mail working.

350259, 350242 & 350129, LN 17.52 London Euston-Northampton (2N51, 3L), Milton Malsor
One of the evening commuter 'stopper' workings passes Milton Malsor just outside of Northampton. This 2N51 is the 17.52 London Euston to Birmingham New Street. This train takes a fair while to cover the distance but it does make many stops at poorly served stations like Cheddington.

66772, 15.49 Garston-Dagenham Dock (6L48), MIlton Malsor
GBRF's 66772 looks very smart as it picks up speed from Northampton past Milton Malsor hauling the 15.49 Garston to Dagenham Dock empty cartics. The first few wagons are the covered types but they belie the fact that this was a very long train that took sometime to pass me as it was making pretty sedate progress! The light was now being spoilt by some high cloud drifting from the north west so I called it a day and headed home.
