I had been meaning to get out and see the 5Q94 stock move for some weeks. I actually did get out once and arrived at my chosen location to find it had run 45 minutes early by missing out a timed stop over! A super May morning encouraged me to give it another go. This regular 5Q94 move involved the taking of a class 350 Desiro from Northampton's Kingsheath depot to Long Marston for bodywork and welding repairs. The unit was hauled by a Europhoenix class 37 that then brought another 350 back later in the day following the completion of its repairs over the previous week.

66589 drifts downhill gently into Northampton past Wilson's Crossing leading the heavily laden 04.57 Trafford Park to Felixstowe North (4L97) Freightliner. To take this picture, a ladder is essential and the selection of portrait mode is also pretty important due to conspicuous 'clutter'.

A train with a lot of green in its livery in a green landscape doesn't work that well, but, at least the sun is on the side! 350114 slows into Northampton working the 08.14 Birmingham New Street to London Euston. The open space in the foreground is an area of meadows enjoyed by the people of Kingsthorpe in Northampton. There have been a number of battles to protect it as various developers have had their sights set on it.
