Yet another trip to London with my lovely wife! This time, she managed to get some tickets for a live recording at the BBC Radio Theatre of the old favourite 'Just a Minute' hosted by Nicholas Parsons. Afterwards, my wife treated me to a lovely vegan cream tea for my birthday - it was delicious!

350241, LN 07.14 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (1Y10, RT), Northampton Station
London Northwestern 350241 waits to leave Northampton with the 1Y10 07.14 Birmingham New Street to London Euston. We travelled on this train from Northampton. This was not one of our usual up trains but we needed to be at BBC Broadcasting House early in order to register ourselves for the recording of the old time favourite 'Just a Minute'.

Class 390, class 345 & class 67, stabled, Wembley Yard
As our train passes Wembley Yard a class 390 Pendolino can be seen along with one of the new Crossrail 345s. There is also a class 67 sitting in the May sunshine.

87002, CS 20.26 Inverness 21.43 Aberdeen 19.00 Fort William-London Euston sleeper via ECML (1M16, 6E), London Euston station
As we had arrived earlier than normal into Euston the sleeper stock was still sitting in platform 1. 87002 'Royal Sovereign' sits on the blocks at Euston with the stock of the Caledonian Sleeper but looks can be deceiving. Passengers did not enjoy this classic haulage all the way from Scotland but only from Wembley Yard! This was because the sleeper had travelled via the ECML the previous night due to engineering works. From the ECML it then traversed the North London Line to Wembley facing north then to be drawn back in to Euston, hence 87002 on the city end of the stock.

390010, VT 17.43 London Euston-Glasgow (9S97, RT) & 390123, VT 17.33 London Euston-Liverpool (1F23, RT), London Euston station
A pair of Pendolinos stand on the stops at London Euston wearing two different Virgin West Coast liveries. On the left is is the first 390 to wear the 'flying silk' livery, 390010 'Cumbrian Spirit' that will work the 9S17 17.43 to Glasgow Central. On the right is 390123 'Virgin Glory' that will form the 17.33 to Liverpool Lime Street.

350262, LN 17.52 London Euston-Northampton ( 2N51, 3L), London Euston station
As our return train to Northampton was a 12-car commuter service it stands well clear of the gloomy interior of London Euston. 350262 led the three-unit 17.52 to Northampton that was pretty well packed full and standing.

66128, unidentified working, Wembley Yard
Taken from the train as we pass Wembley Yard, 66128 is seen at the head of an unidentified up working. Wembley stadium can be seen through the catenary towards the left hand side.

Tickets, Northampton-London Euston-Northampton
As was the case a few weeks previously, the cheapest advance fare for the return journey was first class; what a crazy situation! In any case, the journey was no less crowded as the guard declassified it because of excessive over-crowding as should be the case.
