Another of our day trips to London, but, this one for my lovely wife's birthday. We went to see Harold Pinter's 'The Birthday Party' with Toby Jones in the lead. A smashing day out and we even travelled back first class!

350249, stabled, Northampton Station
London North Western 350249 sits in one of the bay platforms at Northampton station waiting its next turn of duty. I sincerely hope that these Desiros do not get painted into the horrendous purple mess of a livery that some graphic designer has come up with for the company. This former London Midland livery still looks fresh and smart, why not just re-brand this, it would save repainting the station fittings and signs too!

350116, LM 08.14-Birmingham New Street-London Euston (1W70,RT), London Euston station
350116 sits on the stops at London Euston having arrived with the 08.14 1W70 from Birmingham New Street. My wife and I travelled down on this train from Northampton. 350375 sits at the adjacent platform.

390122, VT 10.30 London Euston-Glasgow C (1S52, 5L) & 390138, VT 10.43 London Euston-Edinburgh (9S60, 6L), London Euston station.
The last passengers are being called on to the train as 'it is ready to leave' as the station announcer puts it! 390122 'Penny the Pendolino' is ready for the off forming the 10.30 to Glasgow Central. To its right sits 390138 'City of London' that will leave 12 minutes after the Glasgow train for Edinburgh. On this day, both trains arrived only five and six minutes late respectively.

350109, LM 19.24 London Euston-Milton Keynes Central (2K13, 2L), London Euston station
350109 leaves the interior gloom of Euston into the early spring evening with the 19.24 to Milton Keynes Central. I always wonder why Milton Keynes station has become 'Central'. There are no other stations (or proposals to build any) so why such an grandiose name? Thoughts on a postcard please?

350110, 19.49 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (2K13, 2L), London Euston station
Our train back home to Northampton sits at Euston's platform 6 ready work the 19.49 to Birmingham New Street. The cheapest advanced ticket for this service at the time of booking was first class! This reinforces that the fare structure on the national network is in dire need of the major reorganisation as keeps being talked about.
