Another Sunday and another 0Z88 light engine run. I was a bit busy and running late with 'home duties' so rather than riding my trusty Brompton or walking, I took my Audi TT for its first run out after its winter sojourn in the garage! This Sunday was a bit different, as the Northampton loop was closed for engineering works so everything was routed via the Weedon line.

DR73948, assisting trackworkers, Roade Cutting
With the slow lines in and out of Northampton closed various trackworkers were able to scale the precipitous walls in Roade Cutting to clear the brickwork of growth. With ladders in various location the workers were serviced by two Plasser and Theurer tamper machines. Here, DR73948 sits on the up fast waiting for its next instructions.

Following railtour duties the previous day, 86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' (depending on which side you look at!) runs light engine through Roade Cutting as the 12.40 Acton Carriage Sidings to Rugby Carriage Sidings. The more observant will notice that it's on the down fast Weedon line due to engineering works on the Northampton loop.

DR73948, assisting trackworkers, Roade Cutting
DR73948 tamper has moved the wrong way a long the up slow line in Roade Cutting in order to support trackworkers just seen in the distance. They were scaling ladders placed against the wall of the cutting doing various maintenance and clearance of weeds, saplings and the like which can cause obvious damage to the masonry. Whilst the up and down slow lines were out of use, the up and down fast were working at full line speed.
