A Sunday walk over the field from home to see a football charter running from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly. It was conveying Chelsea fans for the Sunday Premiere League fixture with Manchester City who won 1-0.

As the snow continues to melt rapidly a faint hint of sun emerges from the clouds....is the Beast from the East finally beaten? 390103 'Virgin Hero' passes Ashton Road bridge on the down slow near Roade with the 10.20 London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly. It is quite common for the Weedon line to be closed all night on Saturday and into Sunday morning, with normal service usually resuming by mid-morning.

90037 'Spirit of Dagenham' approaches Roade on the WCML down slow with the classic rake of Riviera Trains Mk2s in tow working the 10.28 London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly football charter. It was conveying Chelsea fans to their match with Manchester City. Unfortunately, they would return later in the day disappointed with their 1-0 defeat. I hope that the chance to travel in this superb rake of refurbished Mk. 2 coaches cheered them up a bit!

Normally, this 4-car class 350 would be on the down fast here approaching Roade on the southern WCML. However, due to engineering works on the Weedon route it is going via Northampton forming the 10.24 London Euston to Crewe.
