Another of my favourite local spots, the impressive Roade Cutting that is about to celebrate its 180th anniversary this year. There are a number of local events to celebrate this event during September 2018.

390118, VT 10.58 Preston-London Euston (1A16, 3E), Roade Cutting
In winter there is limited light in the depths of Roade Cutting. Photography is difficult unless there is strong sunlight to provide enough ambient light. The sun only illuminates the cutting directly for a few hours around midday. Here, 390118 'Virgin Princess' speeds through the cutting forming the 10.58 Preston to London Euston (1A16) working.

Class 221, VT 11.28 Chester-London Euston (1A19, 1E), Roade Cutting
An unidentified class 221 races through Roade Cutting heading south forming the 11.28 Chester to London Euston. I can think of more comfortable and better ways to make this journey rather than sitting in a cramped, plastic feeling and noisey Voyager.

66529, 12.28 Daventry-Wembley Freightliner, Roade Cutting
66529 toils on the upgrade through Roade Cutting with the Sunday only 12.28 Daventry to Wembley Freightliner. Even though it's now early afternoon the sunlight is disappearing fast from the depths of Roade Cutting.
