Taken right into the afternoon sunshine Tisbury signal box is seen from my position jumping on to the platform during our stop at the station. In a typically wasteful manner fitting to British Railways of that era, the box was closed way back in 1967 having only been in operational use for nine years. The closure came about when they made the decision to massively rationalise the route between Wilton Junction (Salisbury) and Exeter with it coming very close to complete closure. Talk today is that it is to be invested in and even re-doubled as traffic increases again.
