With its EWS paint almost matching the stock, 90028 leads the outward leg of The Cardigan Bay Panorama that left Euston at 07.10 heading for Aberystwyth. The Class 90 was removed at Bescot with two of Network Rail's Cambrian Line ERTMS Project Class 37s taking over. A slight delay occurred later in the outward journey with the double-headed 37s having to run round at Shrewsbury (they were planned to take the avoider line at Sutton Bridge Junction) due to an ERTMS fault on the leading locomotive 97304 'John Tiley'.
