Having left Wembley Yard on time at 13.08 and running as 5Z57 the train soon ran into difficulties near Berkhamstead where 350111 had brought down the catenary just south of Northchurch Tunnel causing huge delays to all services. The HST is seen here over an hour late but through some spirited running and favourable signalling decisions, it arrived at Crewe just twenty-seven minutes late.
