Unfortunately, this photograph of UK Railtours' The End of the Line charter is not as planned; as is too often the case in our business! The 06.56 East Midlands Parkway to Newport Docks, running as 1Z39, was shown on RTT to be running on the up fast from Kettering and Wellingborough. But, as can be seen, it was pathed on to the slow line spoiling my plans! Also, the unexpected sun that had provided some dramatic lighting for the photos taken just minutes earlier had all but disappeared behind cloud. GBRf's 66307 'Ipswich Town' is leading the charter that was to end up in the Newport Docks complex visiting, as far as it dares, the sidings of Sims Group. This is rare track and would give passengers a chance to see progress being made on the breaking and recycling of various trains that end up there for scrap. Unfortunately, in addition to the issues with regard to this photograph mentioned earlier, the going away shot also failed which would have shown 66708 'Glory to Ukraine' at the rear of the train!
