As part of the new modern age of railways back in the 1930s the Southern embarked on a huge re-building programme coinciding with their third rail DC electrification. Many new structures were built including Dorking (North) signal box seen here dating from 1938. It contained a forty-four lever frame but many are now out of use. I am not sure when the box is scheduled to be taken out of use but I am confident that it will remain intact as these 'Odeon' style boxes are usually subject to preservation legislation.
