The attractive Pulborough signal box seen at the northern end of the up platform. The box is a superb and relatively unmolested example of a Type 5 London Brighton & South Coast Railway box that was opened in 1878. Apart from the steps being realigned and an enlarged porch (that contains personal needs facilities) the box is as-built down to the LBSC twenty-nine lever frame. Closure will be coming soon as this small section of absolute block signalling is to be abolished over the next year or so.
NB This box was to close on 16.03.2014 just over a year after this photograph was taken (added June 2024)
