Ash Vale Junction signal box (LSW, 1879)
It took me some time to reach a position from where I could capture an image of Ash Vale Junction signal box deep some woodland adjacent to a vast area of army firing ranges. Indeed, Andy who stayed in the car whilst I went off exploring was concerned on hearing gunshots wondering if I had got myself into trouble! The box dates from 1879 and is a non-standard L&SWR design that now contains a Network Rail updated switch panel. The box still wears its British Rail corporate identity printed design nameplate.

NB The box was to close, along with two others at Aldershot and Farnham, on 24.08.13 just four months after this photograph was taken (Note added 04.24)
