Wolverton is doing various work to second-generation DMUs (and also EMUs) to extend their life. A contact of mine who is employed undertaking this work tells me that alarming corrosion to the floors of these units is taking a lot of time to repair and replace. This unit left Heaton (Newcastle) at 11.17 running as 5H70. There was also supposed to be a GWR unit heading this way from Bristol also going to Wolverton but it was cancelled as it had not left Exeter the previous day.
