The unusual group of locomotives were heading to Willesden from Carlisle for some sort of exam. They would return later in the day. for the electrics to continue their winter stint at Preston stabled and ready for ice-breaking duties. It is unusual to see West Coast send out their Class 33 particularly this far south from their depot at Carnforth.
