Padnal signal box (GE, 1887) Padnal signal box was an intermediate block post located between Ely North Junction and Shippea Hill. The remote Great Eastern box was built in 1887 and operated until December 1989 when it was destroyed by a fire. It was never rebuilt with the block post simply extended and the level crossing adjacent to the box becoming user-controlled.
